Harbor works to help children be successful in the home, school and neighborhood.
Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment
CPST provides crisis prevention, symptom monitoring, case management and linkage to community resources. CPST also provides parent education and empowers you so that you can learn more about your child’s behavior and develop the skills needed to effectively manage it.
If you have concerns about the way your child is developing, we have a program that can diagnose and treat developmental delays and handicaps. Our developmental pediatricians and clinical staff have highly-specialized training to address conditions such as ADD, ADHD, Autism, Asperger’s, developmental disabilities, genetic or language disorders, and learning disabilities.
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy
PCIT is an exceptionally effective treatment backed by 20 years of research. Live coaching is the primary method of caregiver training. Caregivers are coached in specific play therapy and discipline skills by the therapist through an earpiece while the therapist observes the caregiver and child. PCIT can be administered in the home environment or at our office.
Harbor offers many parenting groups that serve as an important part of your child’s treatment plan. These groups educate about specific disorders and provide direction on the best ways to encourage appropriate behaviors. These parenting groups offer the tools to better understand a child with devlopmental disabilities, delays or disorders.
Psychiatric Evaluation & Medication Services
Psychiatric evaluations are a detailed interview to identify the mental and developmental needs of your child, which may lead to the use of medication. If medication is prescribed, your child’s usage and reactions will be monitored through medication management appointments.
Psychological testing is often recommended to answer questions about your child’s problems with learning, behavior and attention deficit. Psychological testing also can assess for mood problems such as anxiety and depression, and assess for cognitive problems and developmental delays.
School-Based Achievement Center
The school-based achievement center, in cooperation with Toledo Public Schools, is available to students in grades K-12 that have severe emotional and behavioral problems. This center helps students increase effective interpersonal and problem solving skills, develop coping skills, and manage their mental health symptoms.

This program applies a holistic approach to nurture and link young adults (17-25 years) with knowledge of community resources, basic skills, and lend emotional or social support to ensure a successful entrance into adulthood.
