Harbor Opens New Adult Day Services Program
Harbor Behavioral
Healthcare is proud to announce the opening of its Quest Program, an adult day
services program that assists individuals with developmental disabilities in
reaching their optimum potential, improving their quality of life, and
increasing their level of independence in the community.
Quest is unique to
the area because it offers not only a vocational skills element, but also
social/recreational opportunities. Participants in Quest will have the choice
of participating in one or both components of the program.
Each participant
will have individualized goals and objectives that are identified upon
enrollment. These goals will be the foundation for an individual’s services and
may include vocational skills, community resources, street safety, stranger
awareness, money skills, mobility/public transportation skills, personal care,
hygiene, self-advocacy, emotions, independent living skills, health and
wellness, reading skills, computer skills, meal preparation, communication,
personal safety, social skills, civics, etc. Skill-building opportunities will
be incorporated into the activities listed, using natural settings whenever
possible to increase learning capacity.
For individuals
who want to earn money, Quest will provide opportunities to work on jobs in our
facility. Pay on most of the jobs done in the facility will be paid at a piece
rate meaning that each piece that is completed is worth a certain amount of
money. Individuals will be paid based on the number of pieces they complete
times the piece rate. Quest will also provide job readiness skills training. As
the program grows, Quest will also be able to offer community employment in
groups/enclaves and individual job placements.
On the
social/recreational front, participants will be able to enjoy a wide variety of
activities including community outings, arts and crafts, discussions of current
events, games, sports, exercise, and more.
