FAQs

Here is a list of frequently asked questions by our clients.

 

General Questions

 

  • Why do you need my child’s social security number, card, or birth certificate?  We require proper identification for all clients, including social security numbers. This is required for billing and insurance purposes.

  • What is the process for receiving services once we have the assessment?  Once you have completed your assessment, it will be determined if you need to continue treatment with a doctor for medications, or if treatment will continue with a counselor.

  • Do I have to release information to my primary care provider or school? No. You do not have release any information you do not feel comfortable sharing. However, when it comes to sharing information with your Primary Care Giver, we recommend you consider doing so. Sharing your progression of treatment with them can assist in your recovery.

  • Are the classes you offer (anger management, domestic violence, etc.) covered by insurance?  Unfortunately, our classes our not covered by insurance. However we accept payment on a per class basis.

  • I do not have insurance, can I still receive treatment?  Yes. Please contact us for more details.

  • How long does treatment last?  Length of treatment varies greatly from person to person and depends on the problems addressed. The staff at Harbor will be able to give you some idea of how long your treatment might last.
  • What is the age limit for which you will see at Children’s Safe Harbor?  At Children’s Safe Harbor we see children ranging from ages 0-18. 

  • I am not really in a crisis, but I need to talk to someone. If it is not a crisis, we still encourage you to call and schedule an appointment to speak to someone. If this is an emergency please click here.

  • What is mental health?  Mental Health issues can range from mild depression or anxiety to severe and persistent mental illnesses such as bi-polar disorder, OCD, and schizophrenia. Harbor is dedicated to customizing a treatment plan that fits your needs to help you enjoy the quality of life you deserve.

  • What range of services does Harbor offer?  We offer a comprehensive array of mental health and wellness services for all ages.  Please contact us for more information.
  • How can families and friends make a difference in the life of someone needed treatment?  Supporting your family and friends during treatment can be challenging. You will need to have patience and understanding - and be sure to have a non-judgmental attitude. Be sure you realize that recovery can be a very trying time and will not be an overnight process.
  • Is Mental Health treatment worth the cost?  Yes. The benefits of leading a healthy, independent life after successful mental health treatment is priceless and can last you a lifetime.

  • Does Harbor prescribe medication?  Yes, we can prescribe medications. If you are receiving a treatment from one of our medical staff and they deem medication necessary for your treatment, it will be prescribed.
  • What if my family/friend is resistant to treatment?  We fully understand that treatment is not easy. So we recommend family and friends form a support network to help the person receiving treatment. NAMI (The National Alliance on Mental Illness) is an excellent resource for families/friends of people with mental illness.
