Youth Enhancement Services - YES - Program
In 2005, Harbor was awarded its first out-of-school youth (19-21 year old) contract from Lucas County Workforce Development Board entitled the YES Program i.e. Youth Enhancement Services. The YES Program includes both job placement and retention activities.
Job development activities include: job readiness and job-seeking skills classes, job development and job placement.
Retention activities include not only follow-along to intervene as needed with the employer and youth, but also life skills classes (e.g., parenting skills, anger management, pregnancy prevention, and budgeting) and case management services to address non-work needs of participants such as transportation, child care, and other supports.
In 2007, Harbor’s YES Program was given the “Youth Excellence Award”. This recognition was given by Ohio Department of Jobs & Family Services (ODJFS) for program design and excellence.
Harbor is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and the Ohio Department of Mental Health (ODMH) and is the largest area provider of mental health services to youth in Northwest Ohio. Harbor has nearly a 100-year history of providing community services designed to assist youth to function more fully through: community case management, life skills classes, group and individual counseling, change management and behavior coaching, psychiatric services, alcohol and drug prevention, and alternative schooling.
