Harbor's Women’s Residential Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program serves women (age 18+) and lasts an average of 10 weeks. Residents learn about the disease of addiction, negative consequences of use, the process of recovery, and effective ways to cope with mental health issues.
Each woman works towards goals such as:
- Understanding her addiction(s) & mental health issues
- Relapse prevention
- Recognizing unhealthy interpersonal relationship patterns
- Building a sober support network

Removing Barriers to Treatment: Challenges may include financial ability, family, childcare and transportation issues. Aftercare is coordinated in the woman’s home county prior to discharge.
Wood County Residents can take advantage of the Extended Care Program which provides:
- Coordination of safe housing placement for up to 6 months after the residential treatment program is completed
- Support for resident employment goals
- Continued counseling for chemical dependency and mental health issues

Treated by Professionals: Harbor's professional staff work as a team and bring their individual resources together from various disciplines, including Psychiatrists, Addictionologists, Licensed Counselors & Social Workers, Licensed & Certified Addiction Counselors, Nurses, Dieticians, and Living Skills Instructor. The treatment program includes individual and group counseling, lectures, other group activities, and women specific education about relationships, sexual abuse, selfcare, and self-esteem. Medical issues are addressed with nursing care and a medical doctor provides weekly care to residents.

- Vocational life skills
- Family education and counseling
Women participate in workshops on:
- Domestic violence
- Personal safety
- Consumer credit
- HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, and TB education
- Child abuse prevention
Family Visits: Family members are encouraged to participate in the scheduled Family Education Programs and may visit with residents after these sessions.
